The last in the ‘Selfie’ Series is about Pablo Picasso. Self-portraiture is a genre that, by its very nature, is very intimate and Picasso, having succeeded as an artist very early in life, was one such artist who catalogued who he had become, creating a visual autobiography from youth to old age. Spring is around the corner and the days are growing lighter, which I’m thankful for. I’m not at my best when the nights draw in and the days are dark and gloomy. What keeps me going during the winter months is planning trips to visit as many Caravaggio’s around the world as I can – I visited the National Gallery recently to study ‘Salome receives the Head of John the Baptist’ and had a good look at ‘Boy Bitten by a Lizard’ and ‘The Supper at Emmaus’.
